Matters of the heart 68 – March 2018
For do I now persuade men or God? or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10 KJV)
A gospel Group named the Consolers sung a song that my Uncle used to love to listen to and the Choir at the church where he was the Pastor would sing. May the work I’ve done speak for me The Lyrics are “May the work I’ve done speak for me, when I stand before my God I want to hear him say well done, may the work I’ve done speak for me.” It is nice to have people appreciate and admire what you do, but sometimes man’s accolades depend on who you are, if they like you or not, a whole lot of head games. Just plain old foolishness. I am going to keep working and keep planning so that I might please God. Some things from man’s eyes are not successful, but by God’s standards, I hit a home run. The scripture reminds us to store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal; and if I am doing good work for the kingdom of God, it is well with my soul. The Holy Spirit has a way of reassuring me of this, so my spirit does not get low. Another verse in the Consolers song says “The work I’ve done; they seem so small, looks like nothing at all. When I stand before my God, I want to hear Him say well done. May the work I did speak for me.” Do not look to persuade men, but just please God.
Sometimes my fellow laborers in Christ get discouraged, but when you’re doing things to please man you’re not a servant of Christ and are bound to give up. We are to remember who we are in Christ, if you look at the world, we would as soon as not go to service. Make sure your faith is not Lukewarm because that means you are neither hot nor cold and the scriptures state the Lord will spew you out of his mouth. How many people enjoy a beverage lukewarm, we either drink it cold or hot, such as coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Do not concern yourself with people who tell you God is not real and your scriptures are fairy tales, they are entitled to their opinion, that’s choice, let them folk stay over there, please make sure you’re anchored, serving and pleasing God and not man. Stay encouraged. God bless you.
