Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 NIV
Have you ever done something in life or conduct yourself in a certain way and not have definitive words as to why you do it, it’s just a way of being? I was thinking about putting a definition to how I have conducted myself over the years. My mother says that I have guards up and maybe I do; I would prefer to say that I try to filter out things in my life and mind that makes for unhappiness and contrary to the fruits of the spirit. People, places and situations. The Bible tells us to think on good things. How can you begin to think about good things and be transformed by the renewing of your mind when you have people places and things in your life that you need to filter out? So, you can live your best life and recognize what God has for you. Now, of course, we cannot avoid everything and everyone, that is why scripture reminds us to put on the full armor of God so that you might be equipped to do battle. In this life, there are landmines strategically placed, I suggest that you do not avoid them but go through them with God; so that you will obtain the victory. Ultimately, the battle is not yours but when possible, filter out any and everything that is contrary to your peace. I find that people associate with individuals who upset their peace and joy daily and you cannot figure out who you are. You allow yourself to be misled by someone you think is relevant to your world. So much talking and not enough listening to the spirit of God. Why would you have a friend or an associate that wants to control you, that’s not friendship. Let us continue to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we will be able to know what Gods will is for our lives. The text says his good, pleasing and perfect will for your life. Remain encourage God bless.
For You have been a safe place for me, a tower of strength where I am safe from those who fight against me. (Psalm 61:3 NLV)
Have you ever just had one of those exhilarating days, not to boast, but today, one of the nurses did not show up to work, so I had to fill-in, not what I wanted to do with my day. It was a good thing I was at the office, and maybe it was divine intervention. I believe I shared in previous writings, the majority of people who patronize the training school are from the Latin diaspora; today there was a young lady in the training program that did not want to participate because she was not comfortable speaking English. I told her that this space is safe, and it is an opportunity to practice English as her second language. I expressed to the young lady I would help her pronounce the words, and there was no need to feel insecure, this is a judgment-free zone. I kept calling on her to read, and you could begin to tell that she was gaining confidence. So, at the end of the class, I said she did exceptionally well, and she underestimated her capabilities. She had a big smile on her face and hopefully gained the opportunity to keep working on English as her second language.
I am grateful for the safe place that Christ has for me. Many people will not afford you the opportunity for a safe place; they want you to stay quiet and drink their Kool-Aid; or you are considered a complainer and chief. Some people need to take a walk down memory lane and recall when they had a few or several complaints, and now that someone else is venting or expressing their thoughts and feelings it’s a problem. I want to know why we want to point fingers at President Trump, when if you turn those fingers back on your life maybe you will find that you might have a few of those same ugly ways. Sometimes looking at someone else is an excellent way to reflect upon one’s behavior. “you mean I act like that?” If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. I am so glad that I am an individual with a mind to be creative and allow people to be themselves and prayerfully provide them a space to feel safe where I value other opinions whether I agree or respectfully disagree. I will always cherish my safe place in God and know that I do not have to doubt myself when there are those who fight against me because of their insecurities and character flaws. In life, we might lose a few friends, I may not be man’s favorite, but I know that I am one of Gods favorites and I will never walk alone. If you do not have the space to be yourself, without being a threat to someone else, you do not need those controlling spirits in your life. Remain encourage and know that God will always be the safe place and a tower of strength that is consistent and void of manipulative behavior. God Bless you and keep your head up.
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. (1st Corinthians 5:15 NIV)
This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. Today is Resurrection Sunday the day that sets us apart from other religions. Jesus not only lived and died, but he rose again on the third day. Because Christ resurrected, we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. I am so grateful that Jesus took away my sins because I am guilty as charged. Every day I sin and fall short of the glory of God in thought, word, and deed, but if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. I am grateful for the victory and an opportunity to proclaim the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. Despite people turning away from their faith, there are people all over the world that are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus the Christ. This Sunday morning let us sing and worship the way we would at a ball game, at a wedding, a birthday party, a cultural carnival. Let us render a joyful noise because we were bought with a price and because Jesus lives; we now have a new life in Christ. Remain encouraged, and God bless you always.
