Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 32:6 KJV
I have not written in matters of the heart I believe since April of 2019. So much has happened, I don’t know where to begin; Highs and lows, ups and downs, good and bad, eventful and uneventful. The song that is coming to my spirit right now is I have a testimony the stanza states “when I look back over my life, and I begin to think things over I can truly say that I’ve been blessed I have a testimony. Through it all the 23rd psalm of David reminds me surely, meaning I am confident, that no matter if life is good or bad, happy or sad, I am sure Gods goodness and mercy will be with me. No insurance policy, created by man has eternal value; then the lords’ goodness and mercy (love) that will follow me all the days of my earthly life, because this means the Lord is with me if I continue to commune with him. The lord never let’s go of the relationship; we do, and when you stay in the relationship with the lord and continue to commune with God your faith will grow, and you will be able to say like David, with confidence surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my earthly life. Remain encouraged
Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; Seek his face always Psalm. 105:3b4
The more I read and study the word and preach the gospel, the more exuberant I feel about Resurrection Sunday! There is something on the inside that leaps with Joy about the power of the resurrection. I have been blood washed, found not guilty for the remission of my sins. No matter what I’m going through in life, it is insignificant in comparison to Christ carrying the cross for my redemption. I was not only born in sin but became a bigger sinner. I am not sticking my chest out because of my sin, but I know that the blood of Jesus redeems me. There is no reason not to glorify the Lord; that is enough to sing hosanna blessed be the name of the Lord! When I begin to think about how the Lord uses a wretch like me for his glory, I can’t do anything but get happy. The lord can take broken, jacked up people and get the glory out of our life. People might label you and judge you and size you up, but God is at work using broken people for his glory. That is nothing but sufficient grace, greater grace, the Lord’s strength made perfect in our weakness. It is my continued prayer, that no matter what tags people label you with, do not get stuck on that mess, that game, that street hustle, as the psalm writer states seek the Lord and rejoice, look to the Lord and seek his face, not sometimes, but all the time; because when we are weak the Lord is strong. So, this resurrection Sunday, enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise and rejoice that our Lord and savior got up and won the most significant fight ever fought on Calvary’s hill knowing our sins were nailed to the cross forever amen. Remain encouraged, and God bless you.
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. Revelation 3:8 NIV
This might sound crazy what I am about to say, and I am not a self-proclaimed nerd, but I have been thinking about negative ions, so I searched the internet and found out that negative ions are beneficial in so many ways. According to Troy Anderson’s article, Why Negative Ions Have a Positive Effect on the Human BodyThey neutralize free radicals. They revitalize cell metabolism. They enhance immune function. They purify the blood. They balance the autonomic nervous system, promoting deep sleep and healthy digestion. The most important benefit of negative ions is that they clear the air of airborne allergens such as pollen, mold spores, bacteria and viruses. Negative ions perform this function by attaching themselves to positively charged particles in large numbers and negatively charging those particles. As a result, these viruses, bacteria and pollen spores become too heavy to remain airborne and are thus prevented from entering your breathing passage where they can make you fall sick. In other words, negative ions form a protective circle around you. My God can take the negative and make it positive for your benefit and protection. Negative ions remind me of the scripture when Joseph told his brothers what you meant for evil God meant for good. Sometimes negativity can become your help. Romans 3:10 reminds us none of us is righteous, but God knows our deeds and the heart of man. No door can close, only a better one will open to show man you might have the appearance of godliness, but all power belongs to God; and no one can shut what God wants open for his glory. This text reminds us in Revelations 3:8 when you have kept your word and not denied the name of the Lord all things will work out when you have the favor of God on your life. I encourage you today, to seek first the kingdom of God and remain faithful to an on time God who knows all things and I write as a witness God will keep his promise and intercede for you when you do not even know what is said and going on behind your back, remember those negative ions they have their benefits. God bless you.
They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! John 12:13 NIV
Many of us have been in crowds, whether we like large gatherings or not. I have been to concerts and to ballgames where we are instructed to do the wave, or the performer will turn the mike to the audience, and we sing a lyric or two in unison. Sometimes we are more focused on the fun and excitement of the entertainment from the crowd rather than the ball game itself. There is something about being in a crowd, quite often large crowds are on the same accord if the crowd runs everyone is running, if the crowd is chanting 9 times out of ten everyone is chanting. Groups are like waves they move together. Eric b and Rakim two well-known rappers wrote lyrics about how they can move the crowd and make them clap to this and when Eric B dropped that beat and Rakim was on the mic, they moved the crowd, we danced and clapped, and we followed the leader. That’s what crowds do follow the leader, the question becomes what leader and why? Dictators come to power because of crowds, but crowds often get it wrong. Whether we are in a crowd or not we should never let a crowd think for us, my mother always taught me to consider the source, not everyone can speak into your life. On Palm Sunday let us never forget that one day they were welcoming Jesus with shouts of Hosanna and a few days later crucify him! crucify him! No different than today, people will celebrate you and pull you down a few days later. I encourage you to keep your Hosanna and do not allow anyone or anything to sway your praise of our savior Jesus the Christ. God Bless.
And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Today is Valentines; a day set aside for people of all ages to demonstrate love. No matter how mundane it gets, or an inconvenience, I will forever be a romantic at heart. One thing I love about love, no matter how we try to destroy love, express love, fake love, and call something love that isn’t; we can never damage true love because there is no greater love than the love of God. Love is patient; love is kind. It does not envy; it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. All these characteristics of love are everything God is and everything we should aspire to be. We are so blessed to be the recipient of the overflowing expression of God’s love towards us, shed blood for the remission of our sins. A love that does not expire give up or out. Every day is a vast expression of God’s love toward us. I pray that after you have searched all over you come to realize there is no greater love than the love of God. Remain encouraged. God bless you.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 2 Corinthians 1:3 NIV
Have you ever been in a situation where you were looking for a specific response from someone, possibly your spouse Pastor, parent, sibling, and mentors? However, instead, you got the complete opposite? I can think of times I was looking for compassion and a hug, but instead, I received a cold response or chastisement, oh my God! what a blow. I was overwhelmed, the tears were waiting to come out, and I pushed them back until I got in that private place and all I wanted was a hug, yes me the strong black woman needed a hug. Well, to no avail, maybe they meant well. Thank God I know the great hymn of the church that reminds me in the stanza Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be. Amen, glory to God! thou forever wilt be, as Paul reminded the people of Corinthians in his letter, we serve a God of compassion and comfort, who will be with us through all our trials and tribulations because the lord is all we need for support and refuge. We may want that special someone in our life to have the right words to say or know what we need when we need it, but sometimes our expectations of humanity will lead us to a dry place. I encourage you to find consistent compassion and comfort in the Lord. The apostle Paul is reminding us in this letter, as the trials of life overflow, the warmth of God’s love, protection and grace abound as well! What a blessing and what a friend we have in Jesus!
